So glad that true friendships can pick up where we left off, especially after a year and a half.

A month ago, Randolf and I visited Ukraine and were able to see many friends we hadn't seen in a long time.  To see the city I called home for three years.  To visit my home church family.

Thanks, Zee, for the photo!
I had kept in pretty regular contact with Zee over the past year and a half.  When we got together again for dinner, it felt like we had only been apart for a summer (our usual separation time while I lived there).  I hadn't met Sam before this visit, but soon we will also return for their wedding.

Masha and I had had more sporadic contact, but picked right back up where we "paused."  Too bad we couldn't have been walking buddies again in the center.

Tonya, me, Kristina
Tonya and I have seen each other's Facebook pages, and I think we got to know each other better after going to Turkey together.  It was nice to walk from the center to the Chinese restaurant and catch up a bit, and also to hang out at Sergey and Irina's together.

These friends and I don't speak the same first language.  We pray to God in different languages.  We live in separate countries.  Randolf and I enjoyed our Saturday evening with these and other friends, just catching up, eating together and laughing together.

But the things that hold us together are our shared faith in God and our memories of times together.

STOP

  1. I love this! I do love how friendships can pick up where they left off after time and distance. And I love how you mentioned that you all pray in different languages. Love that picture. Beautiful!
